Because with the dramatic increase of newcomers with the same questions being asked over and over again.

Things in italics you really might want to read if you want to learn anything. ;)

What is Project Platinum?
G/S/C remake using FR/LG sprites and sprite styles. Not R/S/E, not Diamond/Pearl.

What can you play it on?
Computer, because putting it on GBA, DS or Wii would be illegal and we'd get our arses handed to us by Nintendo on a silver platter. With mushrooms.

Is it a ROM? What emulator will I need?
It is neither a ROM or a ROM hack. It is a fanmade game designed completely from the ground up in GameMaker.

Will it cost money?
Again, this is a legality issue. Fortunately for you, this means the game will be a free download.

When is it coming out?
We don't really know, because we haven't ever set ourselves a due date, or even a deadline for that matter. My best guess is late 2007 or anytime in 2008.

Will there be new Pokémon?
Yes, there will be Hoenn Pokémon.
No, there will not be Sinnoh or fanmade Pokémon, no matter how cool you may think they are.

Will you be able to visit Kanto/Hoenn/Orre/Shinou?
Kanto, yes.
Everything else, no.

Sevii Islands?
No. We have Irafas Isles instead.

Can I be a trainer in the game?
Unless you've contributed a great deal to the devlopement of the game, no.
And don't think you can just submit a bunch of poorly-made sprites and say "Can I be in the game now?" What you submit has to benefit the game in some way, major or minor. If it doesn't, too bad. You're just S.O.L.

Well, wait! Platinum is an official game by Nintendo!
Yes, Platinum is an official game by Nintendo; it is the sequel to Diamond and Pearl for the DS. However, this project was started in 2005, long before Nintendo announced the real Platinum. We did not anticipate that Nintendo would make a real Platinum, or that the inevitable sequel to Diamond and Pearl would be named Platinum. Nonetheless, the project has not been renamed as of now.

Members, if you see a new person asking these questions, don't be rude. Simply hint towards this thread and everything will go smoother.

EDIT 5/17/08 (by teamrocketspy621): Thought ahead and added a small bit about the real Platinum, just so that it's in the FAQ and we don't have people telling us that we copied Nintendo or something. ::)

now note I was being sarcastic. or maybe part of me has died on the internet, like when SWG changed, that really made me angry. If you don't know wht SWG is then don't ask.

oh and uh why don't you include what programming language you're using here? that'd be useful (scince I'd like to know as well...)

I have a question, Gameguy:

I notced that on the thread you made on Nsider had a list of recipients for a completed version of the game( http://forums.nintendo.com/nintendo/boar....scending&page=1 this is the page with the post). I'm assuming that most of the people on that list do not have an account on these forums. So, how will you distribute the completed game to the users here? Will all, or even most of us, get a chance to play it?

EDIT: I apoligize now if this sounds like a question that has been asked before, but I have not seen anyone bring this matter up.

I'm sure when the game is complete, there'll be a big honkin' announcement on the front page that link to the page to download it, similar to what we have for this page right now. :P

Anyways, I think we dropped the idea, since after all, when we finish it, we'll post it for all to see.

I don't think the words would get censored if they were in a picture, so say PG-13 or BAD LANGUAGE if it's a picture.
